Announcing the establishment of Martyr Nubar Ozanyan Armenian Battalion!

Martyr Nubar Ozanyan Armenian Battalion is a self-defence force of a nation committed to fight genocide!

On the 104th anniversary of the Armenian genocide, we are proud to announce the establishment of the Martyr Nubar Ozanyan Armenian Battalion, which is formed as a self-defence unit by the children of the genocide. As the children of the Armenian people, who were massacred and exiled in the during the genocide, we have come together to strengthen the revolution in the soil of Rojava and to defend Rojava against the fascist attacks of ISIS and the Turkish state. On the basis of the idea that a population have nothing without a People’s Army, we have formed a modest squad of the defence of the Armenian people and all people of Rojava.

We wanted to take this step, not only to remember the 24 April as a day of the genocide, but also as a day of rebellion and resistance against today’s representatives of the Fascist Union and Progress Party. We want to spread the hope that the Armenian people will not only remember and commemorate the masses of people that faced genocide, but also fight for them. As witnesses to the fact that the genocide that took place 104 years ago is continuing in other ways today, we have created our own force against all the oppression, persecution, massacre and attacks launched in order to assimilate the population.

Martyr Nubar Ozanyan Armenian Battalion was established to heal the wounds of the massacred people, to call to account, and to connect a nation, who were forced to forget their own language and history, with their truth. The establishment of our battalion should be seen as the proof that the ideas and struggle of comrade Ibrahim Kaypakkaya, who spoke out and condemned the Armenian genocide at a time where no one did and lit the spark that coincided with the day of genocide, continues. The establishment of our battalion is also a step in realizing the aspirations of commander Nubar Ozanyan who was martyred in the fight against the imperialists, who are the enemies of the peoples of the world, and against the ISIS fascism, who are fed by the imperialists. Organising the forces of the Armenian people in Rojava is a step towards organising the unorganised in order to defend themselves and the Rojava revolution.

While the Kurdish, Arab and Assyrian people, who participated in the Rojava revolution, established their own self defence organizations, battalions and regiments, the lack of such an organization within the Armenian people was missing and was greatly need. Addressing this need, we will not relive the genocide, by not only organizing in militarily as the Martyr Nubar Ozanyan Armenian Battalion, but also organizing on other levels including ideological, cultural, social areas and to advance the learning of our mother tongue. To this end, we will continue to better organize ourselves and to advance our revolution by further expanding our self-organization.
