Our red salutes to NPA Commander Ka Menandro Villnueva, a revolutionary hero of the peoples of Philippines
The fascist regime of the Philippines and the corrupt and Duterte regime continues its massacring. Recently, we found out that the revolutionary hero of the Philippine people, Commander of the New People’s Army, Ka Menandro Villanueva (Ka Bok), was murdered in the Mabini town of Davao de Oro.
Ka Menandro and Ka Sandra Reyes (Ka Kaye) were captured alive by enemy armed forces in the same incident on 24-25 December 2021 in Mabini, Davao del Sur. The fascist state of the Philippines claimed on January 6 that Ka Menandro was killed in combat on January 5, 2022. He was obviously tortured for at least ten days before he was killed. The enemy prevented the family from demanding the body immediately, and also prevented human rights defenders from seeing the body.
70-year-old Ka Menandro, also known as Ka Jude and Ka Gipo, was a revolutionary leader who had served the people of the Philippines for 50 years. He devoted his whole life to the cause of the proletariat and the oppressed and exploited masses. Ka Menandro, along with other cadres and commanders, led the New People’s Army and the Communist Party of the Philippines across Mindanao. He also held important positions as the Commander-in-Chief of the New People’s Army and a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Philippines.
He now stands as a red flag in the pantheon of the immortals of the Philippine people. The fascists managed to immortalise him by murdering him! However, as we said in the murder of Ka Oris and Ko Pika a short while ago, “Revolutionaries die, but revolutions do not stop, they continue!”

Our party TKP-ML, at its Conference in 1978, decided to commemorate the last week of January as the “Party and Revolution Martyrs’ Memorial Week”. During this week, we commemorate those who fell to the ground not only for our country, but also for the struggle of the international proletariat. In this sense, we commemorate our comrades who were martyred in the Philippines, in the person of Ka Menandro and Ka Sandra Reyes, and salute their struggle.
Once again, we wish the Communist Party of the Philippines and the New People’s Army success in their struggle. The people and youth of the Philippines will take the place of those who fell in the people’s war. What the fascist Duterte regime forgot; “Blood does not suffocate the revolution, it nourishes it”.
Ka Menandro’s lifetime of revolutionary service and heroism will forever inspire all red warriors and the Filipino people to further the people’s war.
